Jakarta Trip!
wah.. now then I realised my blog has been collecting 'cyber dust' for almost half a year. don't think anyone bothers to read my blog though. anyway, Im just back from Jakarta from visiting my secondary school friend, Perrins. Glad to see someone whom was never in contact for 8 years.. I had been to small islands of Indonesia like; Tanjong Batu and Buru. My relatives' place! Kinda miss my cousins n the food there. YUMMY! This time round is the one of the major cities of Indonesia, Jakarta. It's quite a nice place.. Just that the DJs there are a bit screwed up. Imagine that you can hear them chatting happily away when playing tracks.
Sad to see there are a quite a no. of beggers on the streets. Crippled, kids etc.. Kinda sad to see such a sight. My frd told me some of the crippled beggers are not born so, they were crippled after being shot by police due to robbery etc.. Another thing, their currency! Their zeros are numerous man! For example; a meal we had at a chinese restaurant is 250,000 rupiahs! That is around 50 sing dollars. Felt quite bad cos' Perrins is the one who is paying and driving my bf n me around Jakarta. Of cos, my bf did have his chance to pay when he insisted.
We went around for 'HOUSE EXHIBITION'. Their houses there are HUGE and the owner of the particular plot of land(called as estate over there) built his house like a PALACE! I swear by my heart man! You will shocked by the design and size of the houses there. Land is cheap there and it is freehold, the same for condominiums. 'Traffic is a killer!'(sounds familiar huh? Did I mention the VISA tvc?). Time is wasted mainly on traffic. If you have been to Seoul or Bangkok, it is something like that or even worse. Not much recreations and the malls are limited. Clubs are everywhere. Drinks aren't that cheap. The hotel we stayed is fantastic! Sheraton Media Hotel- complimentary from Perrins! There is another city that we could have gone - Bandung, definitely not the drink. Too bad, we didn't cos' travelling will take at least 3 hours IF the traffic is smooth that is. There are Tuk-Tuks(called as BanChap at Jakarta) over there.
If you are interested to go, do take the 'Silver Bird or Blue Bird' taxis. They will not over charge you unlike other privately owned taxi companies. There are many TOLLS over there which range from 2000 - 4000 rupiahs (40 cents - 80 cents sing). The food places that Perrins brought us are nice. He is right, I am missing the noodles now. It looks like mee robus(our malay food) but with an oriental taste and accompanied by crackers complimented the food even more. Tommorrow is back to work man. My life is turning for the better this year, I hope. Someone whom I have been missing these years is back to my arms. Managers are nice to me, I would say understanding. My cashier team is very cooperative among themselves and never gave me much problems. Thank god! Got to sign off now.. tata!
